The birds are back in town

On NPR earlier this week, there was an news item about the return of Pale Male, the Red Tail hawk with a posh Manhattan address. This got me looking for our own high-rise birds of prey.

At the Gulf Tower.

And at the Cathedral of Learning.

Welcome home.

Could it have been one of these I saw in the yard?

A large Peregrine could be the same size as a small Red-Tail Hawk. The various species of Pennsylvania Hawks tend to be generally brown in color but the Peregrine has a very distinct black and white pattern.
